Divisionals Info PLEASE READ
Beloved MW Swim Fam,
By now you have gathered that Divisionals will be held, as planned, tomorrow morning at 8am (reminder that our warm-ups are at 6:45am). We apologize for the confirmation coming out so late, but we felt the need to monitor the air quality over the course of the day, and to discuss the situation with our Division E counterparts before deciding to continue as planned.
We are, however, making some updates to our normal meet procedures :
- The clubhouse will be available for swimmers to catch some (slightly) filtered air and AC before and/or after their events. Joey and I will insist that swimmers spend 5-10 minutes in the clubhouse after each swim.
- Our emphasis tomorrow will be on safety. We always love a good race, but we want everyone to be as healthy and happy as possible. Please remind your swimmers to hydrate and rest when not swimming (we will also remind them, but still...).
- While we are not mandating mask use, swimmers are more than welcome to "mask-up" while out of the water, and Coaches will remind the team that this should not be shamed in any way. #partylikeits2020
Please keep in mind that this weather is unusual: we are used to dealing with heat and humidity, but this poor air quality will literally reduce the amount of oxygen that swimmers can take in. Lightheadedness and nausea are to be expected after a race, and all of the steps listed above are in the service of reducing these side effects.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns. Love and positive vibes,
Andrea and Joey
