Manor Woods Swim Team: The Week Ahead

    Hello Manor Woods Swim Families,

Week 4 is here—we are more than halfway through the season! Great job to all of our swimmers who have been making us so proud by giving their best in the pool and on the deck cheering for our Terrapins. Let's keep it up as we roll through the final stretch!

But first, a quick request: Please consider signing up for a volunteer slot this week. We completely understand how chaotic life is and how stretched thin everyone's time can be. However, running these activities—from social events to swim meets—is quite the operation, and we truly cannot make them happen smoothly without you.

We saw a drop-off in volunteers this past week, and we really need the support of our greater team community to keep things on track.

If you are new to the team or unfamiliar with our events and traditions, please don't let that hold you back! We would love to have you, and we are more than happy to show you the ropes.

You’ll find volunteer sign-up links under each event throughout this email. Thank you in advance for stepping up for our swimmers—we appreciate you!

Now, get ready to dive into all things Manor Woods! Everything you need to know for the week is below.

MONDAY: Team Photo, Raft Night, Ice Cream Social & High School Bonfire

The weather looks much more favorable tomorrow, so all things are ON! Our fabulous social chair, Kara Fisher, will share all specific details for the evening, but here’s an overview.

Team Photo: The photo will take place at approximately 5:30 PM. We ask all athletes (swimmers, divers, and pre-teamers) to arrive by 5:00 PM so we can line up by 5:10 PM. (Raft night and ice cream will follow the photo in shifts according to age-group, Kara will provide those details).

High School Bonfire: For swimmers and divers who have completed at least one year of high school! Enjoy pizza, s'mores, swimming, and team building. Keep an eye out for info from our bonfire and social chairs. We still need volunteers to chaperone, bring firewood, s'mores fixings, and side dishes—please sign up here.

TUESDAY: Swim & Dive For a Cure

Spearheaded by Manor Woods’ very own Jack Tovornik and Avery Russ, this swim- and dive-a-thon will take place during regular practice times and raise money for those impacted by cancer in our community and beyond. Refer to the email sent by us on June 30 with all details and the pledge forms. You can still sign up to count laps here.

WEDNESDAY: Away "B" Meet at Olney Mill

On Wednesday evening, we're heading to Olney Mill for our third “B” meet of the season. Details and registration information will be shared by our B-Reps. Reminder: You must sign up by Monday at 11:59 PM—no exceptions. Questions? Reach out to our B Reps, Brigit and Lindsay ([email protected]). Volunteer for a job at the “B” meet here.

    THURSDAY: Donut Thursday

Swimmers can get their ribbons and a sweet treat after morning practice. We still need some help with donut distribution; sign up here

FRIDAY: Pancake Breakfast, Spirit Activity & Potluck

On Friday morning, we'll have our traditional Pancake Breakfast at Manor Woods. Thank you to event chairs Jen Race and Barry Chesky for organizing! (Consider volunteering to provide food or to help out with serving or preparing—sign up here.)

On Friday evening, we’ll have our traditional spirit activity and potluck. 15-18 families are asked to volunteer to serve, set-up, and clean-up; sign up for a shift here.

SATURDAY: Home "A" Meet & Senior Sendoff (**With an 8am Start!**)

We are home against Woodley Gardens, featuring our senior send-off at halftime! Note the special time: Because of the 4th of July holiday weekend, we are starting the meet an hour early at 8:00 AM. This means all arrival times are shifted back an hour. We will send a full timeline for swimmers later this week. Please remember to mark your child’s availability and sign up for a volunteer position—job sign-ups are already  open.

SUNDAY: "A" Relay Carnival at Tanterra

Please mark your availability for this! Coaches will be posting lineups for relays next week, and we will send a communication with full details by mid-week. Even if your child isn't swimming, come out and show your Manor Woods spirit!
