Time Trials updates!
Good afternoon swim team families!
The coaches are very much looking forward to Time Trials on Saturday! Everyone has been working really hard and has already made a lot of progress. I just wanted to go over a few logistics for the Time Trials meet on Saturday. If you have not yet registered for Time Trials, but plan to be there, please register now!!!!!
1. As in years past, we are dividing swimmers into two “teams”: Turtles (green) and Coconuts (blue). Having two teams allows us to run Time Trials as close as possible to a normal swim meet. Team rosters can be found here, and this document will update as needed. A hard copy will also be posted at the pool soon.
2. Each team will have a designated team area, and swimmers are expected to remain in their team area unless they are actively competing in an event or cheering. This is to help coaches and parent volunteers ensure that swimmers make it to their events on time. Please do not encourage your child to sit with you in the spectator areas.
3. Due to the large number of participants, we will have 3 warm up sessions:
- Blue Team 10 and Unders (7:00-7:15)
- Green Team 10 and Unders (7:15-7:30)
- All 13 and Olders (7:30-7:45)
***11-12s will divide this way: all 11-12s that are experienced and legal in all 4 strokes should warm up with the 13 and Olders. All other 11-12s should join the 10+Unders on their Blue or Green team. If you or your swimmer is unsure of which category is appropriate for them, please respond to this email.***
4. Time Trials is a crowded, fast-moving, loud event, and younger/newer swimmers will likely feel confused at some point. At any time, you/they can ask an older teammate, coach, or parent for help. Coaches, parent volunteers, and big kids will help get swimmers to their events, but they can only do this if swimmers are 1) in the team area, 2) know where their equipment is, and 3) know which events they are swimming. Please ensure your child knows these before Saturday morning. Also, please stress the importance of listening attentively to adult instructions the first time they are given.
Thank you for reading, and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. See everyone bright and early on Saturday morning!
Coaches Andrea and Joey
